Adopt Me! #TakingBooksOutdoors

Outdoor Book Challenge Final Logo

What are we trying to do? Well, we want to get the community of Falkirk outdoors and reading books so we combined both and came up with this challenge with lots of help from our partner organisations. To take part its easy peasy, squash and squeezy, all you have to do is follow the guidelines below!

1 Pick a book you would like to ‘adopt’ from the Book Challenge Books section. NB. We ask that no more than 2 per setting to give everyone a chance to take part.

2 Head to the checkout.

3 This is the fun part – how you bring your book to life is up to you! Sing, dance, mime it’s your choice and we can’t wait to see what you come up with!

4 Share! Twitter, Instagram, Face book, email! We want to hear how it went, we want to see what you have done and if we can we would love to visit! #Takingbooksoutdoors

5 Email us once you have finished and we will come out with a certificate and a wee photo opportunity with your setting!

6 Sign up for our events and look forward to coming to the final chapter in April 2019

Heritage Project

Thanks to The Heritage Lottery Fund, we have been involved with a Local Heritage Project with 3 primary schools in the Falkirk area; Kinneil Primary, St. Andrews and E. Carmuirs.

The project has involved each school discovering more about the heritage of a chosen site (Falkirk Wheel, Callendar Park and Kinneil Estate).

The project has involved working with lots of partnerships and experts who have helped the pupils to gain an understanding of the heritage of their site both the natural and people heritage.

The project comes to a conclusion in June 2018 with a finale where each school will present what they have discovered over the past year.

The pupils are also asked to create an informative leaflet on their site, a blog for this website and take part in a creative award... phew!

We have loved working on this project and have had amazing support and 3 great classes.
